Is Anthony Davis made of glass?

Basketball lovers everywhere are beginning to wonder if Anthony Davis will ever stay healthy enough to win a championship.

22-year old Davis has come out of games multiple times this month with a barrage of injuries ranging from a bruised hip to an injured shoulder to a bruised right knee. He has missed 3 games already this season with little doubt that there will be more missed games throughout the year. The 6’10 franchise player has yet to play more than 68 games in a season since his emergence on the scene as the number one overall draft pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Pelicans fans have their fingers crossed that Davis can stay healthy. While, basketball fans have their fingers crossed that his career won’t be a let down of epic proportions.

Davis has a wide-range of skills, he can block, shoot the three, run the floor and dominate in the low post. When healthy, his presence on the floor is a game changer. He has the skill-set to lead the Pelicans to a championship, but again…..only if he can stay healthy.

What does he need to do? Is it conditioning? Does he need to add weight to his lean frame? Or will the weight just slow him down despite his athleticism and 7’6 wingspan.

Coming out of the NBA Draft, Davis was compared to Kevin Garnett. The comparison undoubtedly made sense at the time, but there are not many players in the league that haveĀ even an ounce of the toughness that Garnett has portrayed during his extensive career. A comparison to Garnett is never fair.

Davis has a lot to prove, to himself that he can stay healthy and to the fans and franchise that hold him to a such a high esteem that he can lead them to the ultimate goal….a championship.
