Seattle’s own MVP

Thirteen-year-old Matthew Feldman has been in love with baseball as long as he can remember. The Seattle native is a diehard Yankee fan whose favorite player is former Yankee Captain Derek Jeter.

On October 3rd, Matthew raised over $3,000 from his Bar Mitzvah for the Keep On Playing Foundation. Matthew believes that all kids should be able to get the same enjoyment out of playing baseball that he has for so many years. He feels strongly that all kids should be encouraged and supported and feel believed in. Matthew is ecstatic to be a part of the Keep On Playing Mission.

There is no doubt that Matthew is a remarkable young man. His kind heart and maturity is indisputable. His love for baseball unmistakable.

People underestimate the power of sports.

Sports can empower, transform, build self-esteem, heal and unify. It can be a diversion, a passion or a hobby. It can aid in the development of a child, inspire them.

Sports can teach a child how to face adversity, rise up to competition, strive to be their best self. Every child should experience the benefits. If just given the opportunity, a child’s life can be changed forever with the presence of sports.

Nelson Mandela once said; ” Sport has the power to change the world.” Truer words have never been spoken.

Aside from the countless benefits sports have on children, the most important thing for a child to do is to have fun and Keep On Playing.

That is what Matthew would tell you to do.
