T’was The Night Before Opening Day

‘Twas the night before Opening Day, when all through the land, not a football fan was resting, not even a Charger fan; the fantasy team rosters were adjusted with care, in hopes that their choices gave them nothing to fear. Fans were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of touchdowns danced in their heads…..I sprang from my bed early the next morning in such a state. Away to the TV, I flew like a flash, turned on ESPN to check on an injury update…When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a highlight reel of the best players was there. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, and the analysts bellowed and shouted and called them by name: “Now Beckham! now, Murray! now Edelman and Bryant! On, Lacy! On, Thomas! On, Hopkins and Lynch, to the red zone, to the end zone, now sprint, sprint, sprint, sprint, sprint!” And then in a twinkling, I heard very faint, Deflategate is over and no one came out a saint. As I took a deep sigh, I threw on my lucky jersey and grabbed a cold beer, nervous and jittery and didn’t know why, I ran to my couch to sit and prepare. My fantasy team on the laptop and the game on TV, the coin toss was flipped…..From out in the distance I thought I did hear, the great Madden take a deep breath and declare:
Happy Opening Day to all, and to all a great night!
