It is official, Puig-Mania has rejuvenated the Dodger fan base. It is not often that a rookie emerges on the scene with such skill, power, passion, and dynamic. Yasiel Puig has single-Handel resuscitated the Dodgers dying season and landed on the top-selling jersey list. The 22-year old Cuban defector signed a seven-year, $42 million dollar contract with the Dodgers in 2012. A contract that had much scrutiny, but came as no surprise considering the way the Dodgers have been spending money lately. Puig had his Major League debut on June 3, 2013. In 35 games, Puig is batting .394, with 8 hr and 19 RBI’s. Calling Puig and impact player would not do him justice.
Not everything in Puig-ville is butterflies and roses. Many vets around the league appear bothered by Puig’s arrogance.

Diamondbacks Ian Kennedy and Miguel Montero have their opinions regarding Yasiel Puig. Dodger hitting coach, former slugger, Mark McGwire has allegedly had words with Puig about his attitude. According to early scouting reports by Baseball America, scouts were apprehensive about Puig’s maturity level, claiming that he rubbed people the wrong way while at Rancho Cucamonga. Newsflash Puig: sense of entitlement and arrogance aren’t attractive in any facet. So far, Puig’s ML debut has been an exciting one, certainly not drama free. If scouting reports are correct, baseball may have their hands full with the new phenom.
Adding to the “issues” with Puig’s arrogance, steroid rumors are floating about. Why not? Any baseball player with a breakout year is under suspicion and with good reason. On the heels of the supposed suspension that is upon us with the Biogenesis investigation, one can not help but doubt any of their favorite players. Sad times and certainly not fair.
